Westin Galleria Dallas - Monumental Stair

Dallas, TX

The Westin Galleria Dallas is a premier mixed-use destination for shopping, dining, culture, and entertainment. As the longest-running AAA Four Diamond hotel in Dallas, it serves as an ideal setting for everything from group gatherings to weekend getaways.

As part of a major recent renovation, which included updates to the lobby and multiple guest floors, our team had the opportunity to erect the monumental staircase that now serves as the centerpiece of the hotel’s transformation.

This project involved the installation of 14 tons of structural steel, most of which was dedicated to the staircase itself. Our initial plan was to fabricate the stringers with treads fully welded in the shop and deliver them to the site in large sections.

However, due to tight site access and ingress restrictions, our team at Perry & Perry had to rethink our strategy and adapt quickly.

It was ultimately determined that the steel would be delivered to the job site piece by piece and erected entirely in place. This method allowed us to navigate the logistical challenges while maintaining the integrity and design intent of the staircase.

Adding to the complexity, the worksite was located directly above a fully operational restaurant. With safety and quality as our highest priorities, our team executed the work without incident and completed the project on schedule, ensuring seamless coordination with our trade partners.

Today, the staircase is the first element that captures your attention upon entering the lobby. Though clad in elegant terrazzo, the true strength and form of the staircase lies in the steel framework at its core.
