Houston Methodist Centennial Tower Bridge

Houston, TX | 500 Tons |

Our team is proud to be leading the steel erection of the Methodist Centennial Tower Bridge,  a first-of-its-kind, 12-story pedestrian skybridge connecting the new Centennial Tower with the existing Walter Tower in the heart of the Texas Medical Center in Houston.

Spanning active hospital facilities where surgeries and medical care are performed daily, this project presents an extraordinary challenge requiring meticulous planning, flawless execution, and continuous coordination. The 500-ton steel bridge cantilevers 80 feet from the Centennial Tower and 60 feet from the Walter Tower side, joined by a specially engineered seismic connection.

Due to the complexity and safety-critical nature of the site, our team operates in a 24-hour schedule. All pod fabrication occurs during daytime hours inside the atrium of the Centennial Tower, where the skylight was intentionally left out, allowing us to build large structural “pods” on custom jigs. These pods are then hoisted by tower crane at night over active patient rooms with zero room for error. Every move is guided by a highly detailed engineered erection plan.

Our scope also includes surgical demolition of the Walter Tower’s existing precast façade and glazing to make way for the bridge integration, all without disrupting hospital operations. With minimal laydown area and a highly restrictive delivery schedule, this project pushes the limits of steel erection logistics and coordination.

Partnering with Vaughn Construction (GC), Houston Methodist (Owner), Walter P. Moore (EOR), and MXE (Erection Engineering), this project exemplifies our ability to execute at the highest level of technical complexity, innovation, and safety.
This skybridge is more than a structure, it’s a symbol of medical advancement, architectural ingenuity, and construction excellence. We are honored to be part of it.
